The United States Pledge of Allegiance, written in Arabic calligraphy, in the image of the American flag - by Everitte Barbee
This is poignant on about twenty different levels at once. Barbee notes:
This piece is a color original of the American flag, formed by using the words to the pledge of allegiance. The pledge of allegiance is written exactly twice in this piece, creating the correct official proportions of the flag of the United States. It is written once in the seven red stripes, which represent seven of the thirteen colonies which rebelled against the British in the revolutionary war. The pledge is written again exactly once from start to finish beginning the bottom right corner of the blue area behind the fifty stars representing the fifty states
And it’s gorgeous.
